My small collection of World notes...

Discussion in 'Paper Money' started by Billy Kingsley, Sep 26, 2009.

  1. While I do collect everything, the majority of my collection is notes from my home, the USA. This is the little bit I have that is not from the USA...

I got these two Australian notes from a buisness associate in Australia. I guess you could say that...the association is, I pay him, he sends me stuff :) On one order I asked if he could send along some bills, too. So he sent me these. It does not appear that these are dated...I've had them over a year now and I still can't find the date on them. To be honest, I'm not sure which side is the obverse or reverse, either! (on the $10)

This Bulgarian note was a free sample from Littleton. I love me some free samples, LOL! This is the largest note in my collection...it's so big, it does not fit into the large size (American) currency holders that I have!

I don't know where these Canadian notes came from. They were a gift to my brother a long time ago, and when I started collecting currency, he gave them to me.

These two notes I got from a Canadian friend of mine.

I posted the single French and German issues I have in another thread two days ago, about military currency.

Last but not least, I have these two notes from the Protectorate of Bohemia & Moravia. Like the French and German issues, these were brought back from the war by one of my relatives who served, though it is unknown which one exactly, as three were deployed on the field of battle, while another served in the Coast Guard! I have not been able to figure out what year these were issued, but I am thinking possibly 1935...or perhaps the series was 1935, like the American series does not always match the date the note was printed. I'd like to find out some day.

I was able to figure out somewhere (I don't remember where, but Wikipedia comes to mind) that this not was likely issued in 1940 or 41. Would that make B044 the serial number? I have no references at all on world notes, just going by what I can piece togther from the note itself, what I can find online, and what people tell me!

I know some of these scans are pretty lousy...sorry about that!

Nice looking notes! On the Australian ones, the reverse is the side with the serial numbers (at least that is according to SCWPM, I don't know if there's an overall rule for all Aus notes). The date of issue is the first two digits of the serial number.

  5. Thanks for the comments! I really like the Canadian notes as well, I find the vignettes on them to be top quality (Especially the reverses), and a large portion of my collection is Canadian as well, the largest non-US portion of both notes and coins.

Wow, thanks Dave! Now that you mention that I am looking closer at them and the first two numbers look like they are a little ways away from the other numbers.

nice notes :) i always get confused on dateless notes myself. I can never remember which might or might not use the 2 digit date as part of serial number. I just wait until i see it listed in a catalog, and then look for the date :D

Nice notes, I have always thought the $5 Canadian note with the hockey player on the back was a really cool note.
