Good afternoon everyone, And congratulations Peter and Co on the new look of the site. I like it Here is an update. I opened the store about 2 months ago and it has been going as you would exspect with a new company. Collectors are turning in more and more. But to my surprise the tourist are alot in here. The company is called Safnaramiðstöðin in Icelandic. Collectors Emporium Iceland in English I´m located down town Reykjavík in the heart of the centre. There are still some things that have been taking to long ( like the showcases for the coins ) they will be put on three walls on the store. What I have absolutly loved about the store is what comes in. Rare items we have been searching for. In these two months I have found 5 items that ( I kid you not ) Collectors have been looking for their entire collecting life. I have some photos I would like to show you but mind you there are still some things missing. This is the view from my stors door. These houses hold on the left hand one of the Icelandic historical museums and the right hand side the national theatre. Not to shappy if I say so my self This is the house it self. My store is on the left hand side in the basement ( all markings on windows are being put up later this week ) House was built in the 1920´s and is just amazing. One of the biggest problems I faced when I opened the store was finding a counter that had age. And boy did I find one that I love. It was made in Iceland in the 40´s and was in a well known company at that time. This show case came from another famous company In the back of my store you can see a chair, This is were collectors come and sit down and talk about their hobby. I have coffie for them and they can hang out there as much as they like. This show cabinet was used in the oldest company in one of the towns in Hafnafjordur. I can not tell everyone how much I have absolutly loved going to work every single day. It´s touch as nothing I have done before but the reward is in smiles. Thanks gang. I´ll be here more often I promiss Siggi
Your store looks amazing! Next time I'm in Iceland I'm there!!! (Hopefully 2014ish) I wish you the best of luck with your store!
Your store looks amazing Siggi! I wish I could visit, but I on the other side of the world as you . I wish you luck!
You have a nice flair for displaying your merchandise. Good balance and interesting touches. I like your idea of the collectors corner to sit and discuss this pursuit with fellow interested parties. Some stores you go into, make it feel like your an intrusion instead of a welcome guest. I see nothing but success in your future.
That is truly a great looking shop you have there. And I also agree with saltysam about the collector's corner-- great idea!
It would be great seeing you here Peter, Mind you cointalk gave me a huge push in what I´m doing right now Thank you, Collectors seem to like the idea of having some space of their own inside the shop. And it´s good for the store to have customers as much as possible Thank you sir, If you ever visit Iceland you know where you are most welcome Thank you for your nice comment, I´m glad you see what i´m trying to do with displaying my items. I still have some way to go but i´m happy with what I have now at the moment. The counter makes the whole store come alive.
I'd say that the little case withe the red lining is the coolest display, sometimes coins speak better than words. Very well done!
Appreciate it Siggi, but I'm afraid my traveling days are over. Even a 2 hr drive is exceeding my limits these days.
Congratulations (eveything looks so nice) and glad to hear you will be spending more time with us. We missed ya old friend.
Absolutely beautiful shop Siggi and a great location to boot. Thanks for reporting your progress to us and looking forward to hearing from you often. Best of luck to you and kindest regards my friend. Bruce
