I have recently decided that I am fed with all of the "errors" on the Washington dollar coins. I like to go to Ebay and look at error coins to see what the market is doing. But now I have to sift through several pages of these silly things just to see real errors. So I posted a gag auction poking a little fun at all the "errors". Mostly for my own amusement. I laughed the entire time I was posting it. I'm actually chuckling right now. So now I noticed I actually have a bid on the thing! I sent the person a note letting them know it is a gag auction. The only thing that has me concerned is the user id is COINAF (Coalition Of Internet Numismatists Against Fraud). Has anyone heard of them? Should I be scared? Anyway, just wanted to let it be known, I think the hype is just that. Michael
I wouldn't worry about it much, COINAF is a group started to try and help fight fraud on ebay. We even have some members of COINAF here on CT. I gotta admit though, there may be more truth in your auction comments than most realize
No he cannot post a link to the auction, it is against forum rules to do so here. Techinically he shouldn't even be permitted to talk about one of his own auctions, but he asked my permission first and I permitted him to do so because because of the circumstances.
I intended no sarcastic tone, I made those comments mainly for the other moderators so they would leave the post here. As to your question - did you look ?
Hi there "PEACHY"!!! GREAT "listing"!!! I read the title of the listing and I cracked up! Laughed my butt off!! GREAT Listing....again!! Thanks for making my day!! swick
If he's unobservant enough to think he's caught a scammer, a little shilling will be all that's necessary to set him off on an unjistified tirade against Peachymargarita. Be careful out there!
I agree and thought about that before my post. The last thing Peachymargarita needs is someone ranting about how they paid $50 for a coin with no errors in a deceptive auction. (BTW: I don't think it's deceptive just the arguement they would probably make) Don't worry Peachy, I wouldn't really do that to you. I wouldn't mind sniping it in the end though. The best would be for him to have the only bid at .99 cents. Not much to complain about then...
So do you guys think I should revise the list to say it is a gag. I mean to me it seemed obvious, but I guess to some it may not be so. The last thing I want is to mislead people. I'm a big fan of sarcasm, but as with everything, only in moderation! Any opinions about revising are welcome. Thanks, Michael
Good One. Heck almost makes me want to bid on it as well. You even back up your rarity with some facts.. I love it..:mouth: :mouth:
The auction is technically truthful, and as long as you actually send what is being bid on don't see how they winner has any basis to complain. I wouldn't worry about it... especially if they win at 0.99 lol, they essentially would be getting a free penny minus the shipping.
