First of all I want to say that this order has been giving me anxiety and frustration all week.

I ordered it via USPS Priority Mail Express - 1 DAY.

It shipped from Ohio on February 1st and was “guaranteed” to be delivered by February 2nd @ 12pm.

Well it didn’t show up February 2nd.
    Or February 3rd.
    Or February 4th.
    Or February 5th.

It was just sitting in Columbus, Ohio and not moving.

But today on February 6th my “overnight” package was finally delivered after 5 days.

I know that these are not in great condition but I knew that when I bought them as I told the dealer I wanted to buy cull Peace Dollars.

I love the design on them and I wanted to get a bunch to have some silver in my silver stack that I enjoy and think are cool :).

It's not that difficult to put together a low grade Peace Dollar set. Enjoy you nice additions and build that stack higher.

Well when I bought them I told the dealer I don’t care about the date or mint or condition (as long as they aren’t damaged with holes and stuff like that).

I wanted them as cheap as I could get them and when you start requesting certain dates & mints & grades the price goes up.

One needs to remember that what is normal is no longer normal.
The mail system is a mess...for many reasons mostly due to CV-19.
I can get an item from east to west coast in 2 days!
John a well know member here is just around 130 +/- miles south of me....it can take 10 plus days for either he or me sending each other a package.
Everything that comes from the South to me in the mid Atlantic regions goes thru a major hub that at best is a total mess most of the time.
Stay tuned as again we are in uncharted waters here and Im sure as an optimist things will only get worse before they get better....
My mail and packages sit for a few days and are disinfected before opening.
This crap has a mind of its own...and I personally have enough issues now then to add dealing with trying to beat a monster that has laimed almost a half a million of our countrymen and women.

Actually I called USPS twice (both my local office and the Columbus, Ohio office) and both times they said that they were shocked it hadn’t arrived and that because Priority Mail Express 1 Day is guaranteed COVID doesn’t affect those shipments as they are put on the planes & trucks first even if it means delaying other mail to make room for them.

However they did say for non-Priority Mail Express shipments the shipping times could be affected due to COVID 19.

I hope they dont kiss their moms with that lie in their mouth. Sorry not all their fault but dont lie....esspecially when it can be found to be a lie by watching the 6 oclock news.

    It’s not a lie.

I think you’re thinking of normal mail and you have to remember Priority Mail Express is NOT normal mail.

The 6 o clock news is talking about the 98% of mail that is not Priority Mail Express.

I even asked them straight up if COVID could be the cause for delay and they said NO. Because it’s Priority Mail Express.

I don't know how the USPS works, but I used to do a lot of business with FedEx and DHL. If packages didn't arrive on time, I filed a claim and my company got a refund. After doing that a few times, my packages began arriving on time.

Well an old goose hunting buddy of mine here in Maryland , who happens to be a postmaster general here confirmed everything that I posted to you is the truth and that it doesn't matter how you send it ...it is not going to get from A to B in the promised time frame.
I called him to see if he had a chance to get out goose and duck hunting.
He said not only no but hell no and the postal system has been at a breaking point since the end of October,
He also added that the stress level due to the volume and CV-19 was a daily issue with call outs ,as well workers getting a 14 day sit down.
So believe what you want Gigs and I go back many years and I know he has had enough of the drama and daily issues with the post office.
The #1 issues he told me was that Priority mail isn't a priority in the system its just another package or envelope to get delivered during a pandemic....and the phone ringing off the hook wheres my pkg?

    Here is the thing though.

Because Priority Mail Express is guaranteed if it doesn't arrive on time (even if it's only 10 minutes late) USPS must refund 100% of the cost of shipping.

So if they are constantly missing their guaranteed dates & times it means all of those Priority Mail Express packages are being sent for FREE.

USPS can't afford to ship stuff for free.

And heres the point you"re in the middle of a pandemic do you think for one minuite someone is going into a post office and complain? Like I said Gigs and I have known and hunted together for years.....I think I trust the man who works for the USPS over anyone on the internet. Believe what you want.... the USPS has been running at less than half speed since Fall. Here I get notice on my phone daily what is coming got a notice Wednesday that my W2 was coming.....it showed up today. Again a 40 year friend who is a postmaster is who I believe.sorry....

Well I definitely got MY money back.

So they basically shipped my stuff free of charge even though it cost them money to do it.

Yes it's a pandemic but they're still charging a fortune for Priority Mail Express so they should be held accountable even in a pandemic.

If they can't meet their guaranteed time due to the pandemic then they need to stop selling Priority Mail Express shipping. As long as they are the people who paid all that money for it are entitled to get their money back pandemic or not.

Was your W2 shipped with Priority Mail Express? If not then the delay is to be expected.

I'm not saying your postmaster friend didn't say what he did but he was probably talking about normal First Class Mail, not Priority Mail Express.

But I am going based on what the managers at my local post office told me and I trust them with their 20+ years working for USPS.

Look again believe what you like , and not to venture into politics but the major hubs were striped of machines months before the 2020 election. Why? Por que? Because of mail in voting durring the pandemic! Sorting machines were dismantled and trashed.
The system was stressed before that as smart people realized that they did not want to expose selves. UPS ,Fedex all experenced higher volumes of packages.
So once again .....it mattes not how you sent it or if it was a package or an envelope the system was over taxed due to the volume and it ability to sort mail due to machines being trashed.

All mail is running really slow. That includes Priority Mail Express. Any postal worker that says something different is not telling the truth or is just stupid to the facts.

If all my worries were centered on whether or not 26 cull Peace dollars were going to arrive on Tuesday or Saturday. Oh, the perfidy of it all. As @Paddy54 has suggested the postal service has been gutted by politics and a pandemic.

My local postal workers are brutally honest that nothing arrives when they say it should. They are trying their best and are very disappointed that the USPS has been basically gutted. Imagine a company you work for being destroyed by the politically appointed head of the company.

It also has to do with how the mail is routed.
I sent C-B-D a box of slabed coins to sell for me. I mailed it from a post office in Brunswick Md. As John lives in Va. and I was in Brunswick on business. It was sent priority mail and it was a medium-sized box.
So I believed since Va, was right across the river and can be seen walking out the post office door that they get to him in record time.
Guess what.....that box of coins left Brunswick Md, went to Downtown Baltimore post office some 75/80 miles away.....then to a distribution center in Chantilly Va. Then to Johns home town.
Had they crossed the river they would of been more than halfway to his front door!
But no 80 miles back to Bmore, 60 miles to the distribution center....and then another 50 plus miles to Johns home town. I was to say the least surprised that was the route they traveled.
