Your favorite coin series to collect is Franklin halves, they are interesting b/c Franklin wasn't a presedent, yet appears on coins and currency. My favorite series to collect is Ike dollars, because I Love the big dollars, but dolnt have the money for a silver dollar collection, so Ikes are my favorite, love the proofs
Your favorite series is the Morgan dollar which was minted from 1878-1904 and 1921. Now for the second part replace 'your' with 'my'
Your favorite series is the washington quarter. it is interesting because it will have at least more than 100 reverse designs before it is retired
I am working on a dansco 7070, so that means all of them. Specificaly I like seated, 2 and 3 cents(silver), buffalos, wheats, barbers, flying eagles, and Imperial German 1 and 1/2 Marks. I'll go with the german 1 marks. I like them because they have a pretty design(eagle, I like the large eagle variety) and some interesting mintmarks. Here is a small eagle that I have:
Your favoritre series is the Washington quarter becaue Geroge Washington was the First U.S. President (I know someone is going to be me he is really like the 12th). My favorite series is the Flying eagle cent becuase it has a beautiful design and was a short lived issue.
Your favorite series is the Washington quarter which is interesting because it was originally intended to be a commemorative. My favorite coin type is the Indian head quarter eagle because it, along with the half eagle, is the only coin to feature an incuse design.
(i think it's the quarter too but everyone else calling that one so....) The the Roosevelt dime (1946-64 90%) because of rumors that the "JS" engraved on the coin was the initials of Joseph Stalin, placed there by a Soviet agent in the mint As for my Favorite series that has to be the Indian head pennys 1859-1909 they were the 1st of the copper bronze alloy used up until 1982 (not counting 1859-64 which were nickel/copper) (ok it's because i love the indianhead itself and even the oak wreath on the back)
Your favorite series is the Morgan Silver Dollar, an interesting fact about the Morgan Silver Dollar, which I did not know until I picked up the latest coin magazine, was that the Morgan Silver Dollar was originally Morgans design for a new half dollar. As for my favorite series, I am just too unfocused to name one, but the latest one seems to be the 2 and a half dollar Indian head gold coins, they are a short series with no real stopper, and a bear to grade accurately.
Your favorite series: Lincoln cents! Good ol' Abe's been around (and still exists today) longer than any other series minted in the U.S.
Your favorite series: Washington Quarters When Kennedy was killed his widow chose to have him be on the half dollar as she didn't want to kick Washington off of the quarter. I'm going after halves as it's the only thing I find in boxes with good frequency. I'm partial to the walking liberty.
Your favorite series is the Washington Quarter. Interesting fact: in 1932, the Washington Quarter was put out intended to be a commemorative coin, but it was so vastly popular that the US Mint decided to keep it as a circulating coin. My favorite design: The Mercury head dime. Interesting fact: The reverse of the coin shows a fasces (Axe bundled with sticks) with an olive branch wrapping around it. This represents America's strive for peace, but presence of power when needed. This is my favorite coin to collect because of the sheer beauty of each and every mercury dime represented by Adolph Weinman. I do think the public's dubbing of the name "Mercury Dime" is also great because it is very relevant.
Your favorite coin series in the Franklin Half Dollar series which ran from 1948-1963. And the interesting fact has to do with the designer of the coin, John Sinnock, and particularly his initials, JS. During the Cold War the American people were growing very paranoid of "creeping communism". So when the public saw the new Franklin Halves they noticed Sinnocks initials, "JS". People were so paranoid, they thought that the initials actually stood for Joseph Stalin because, according to conspiracy theorists, Russian spies had infiltrated the mint in order to add Stalin's initials. There was huge public outcry, so in order to calm the public down Sinnock decided to add his middle initial to the coin, "R". So afterwards the initials read "JRS" instead of "JS". Pretty cool story haha Personally my favorite series is the Walking Liberty Half Dollar because I feel that is one of the most beautiful designs in all of coinage history but I truly love all halves! Well in any case, a very Happy Early Birthday to you!! Congrats for being on this site for a whole year!!!! And thanks for the contest!!
Your favorite: Washington Quarters. Interesting fact: President Washington would be a bit surprised to find himself on the quarter. In considering designs for the first U.S. coins, he and Congress rejected designs picturing him because it reminded them too much like monarchy, the very thing from which the United States had rebelled. But in 1899, Washington's image was placed on a U.S. coin—the Lafayette dollar. Then in 1932, Washington appeared once again on a U.S. coin—the quarter—and still does today. Also, American coins seldom show living people ever since George Washington refused to appear on a coin because kings often put themselves on coins. But we sometimes break this "rule," and the governor of Alabama was the first. In 1921, Alabama's Governor Thomas Kilby was shown next to the Governor of 100 years earlier—William Bibb—on the Alabama Centennial Half Dollar. (Had to include a fact that included Alabama) My favorite: Lincoln Penny Interesting fact: The Lincoln penny was the first cent on which appeared the words "In God We Trust."
Your favorite: Franklin Half Dollar Interesting fact: To the right of the bell is a puny-looking eagle. This had been required by law on the half dollar since 1792 and was reaffirmed by the Coinage Act of 1873, which mandated the placement of an eagle on every U.S. silver coin larger than the dime. The eagle was added by Gilroy Roberts, who completed work on the coin following Sinnock's death in 1947. Understandably, the federal Commission of Fine Arts (an advisory body) took issue with the eagle's size, but oddly enough, they disapproved of displaying the crack in the Liberty Bell, arguing that "to show this might lead to puns and to statements derogatory to United States coinage." Although the Commission recommended a design competition, the Treasury Department approved Sinnock's models without change. My favorite: At this point I am enjoying the ATB series, because I don't have a lot $ for coins. But I can still look for them in change and from time to time a roll. I love the National Park System and have been to quite a few of the parks and I enjoy some of the designs. Interesting fact:The United States Mint will issue these quarters in the order in which the honored site was first established as a national site.
Your favorite Series to collect are Indian heads. Indian heads have been minted since 1859-1909. Mine is the Wheat cent. I love the varitiaty and conditions. I love them, because i can afford them .
Your favorite series is the liberty head series because of the 1913 liberty head nickel. There were only 5 minted, either by accident or forged by the original owner. They are now among the most valuble coins in the world. My favorite is also the liberty head nickel for the same reasons, for it's beauty and also because the first coin I ever got that I can remember keeping to collect was a 1901 liberty head nickel.
Your favorite coin series is Mercury Dimes, minted through 1916 - 1945. Later replaced by the Roosevelt Dime. My favorite are the Indian Cents minted 1859-1909. Remember finding my first in a tub of old wheaties.
