This is my oldest US coin, a capped bust half dollar. I don't know much about grading these, since it is my only one. I'm guessing VG?

Please comment. Regardless, I think she is a beauty.

Well shes better looking then my 1834. I'd give it a low Fine.

I would say VG10 and O-112a R2. Very nice coin. And yes I am beholdin' a beauty.

Yes, actually, I was going to put a VG 10 as my grade and wondered if ya'll agree with me. I wish I had more than one of these...... :)

    I'm sorry, but what is "O-112a R2?"

O-112a is the Overton Variety - it is easy to identify with the filled S in states and the filled N in United. R2 - is the rarity rating, with R1 being the most common.

Does the Overton Variety add any value (I'm NOT selling, just curious). In my redbook, it looks like in VG it might fetch $85 or so....Is that about right?

Here is a link to the Overton Varieties that might be of some help, for when you buy bust halves in the future. It also has some useful info, for ya' as well

For an R.2 in that grade, no. R.2 is still quite common compared to the number of collectors.

Nice looking coin! I agree that the obverse is a 10, the reverse maybe a tad better. Definitely a keeper!
