yeah its ugly but its my oldest nickel outside of a couple buffalos sitting in 2x2's and its an S, never had an S before. and i found it in change from a walmart some time ago.
its nice to find an older nickel in change. It's been years since I found a 30's or early 40's in change or roll searching for that matter
glad to hear you only found it. just kidding. I got a 1945 S in some change once. Still have it. Two weeks ago I got a 1939 in some change. Not bad.
its strange I think Ive been getting alot of luck when it comes to searching rolls of nickels. I get alot of 40s and one or two 1939's for each 50 dollar batch of nickels. I kind of forgot how cool it is that these things have been in circulation for that long.
thats why i get excited to see any coin thats 40-50 or 60 years old STILL in circulation. with the rest being silver about all you see anymore are cents and nickels. wheats seem to be easy to find around here still. i get them all the time in rolls i get at the bank.
Looks like the more common small "S" mintmark. I was hoping it was the small S inverted mintmark. Speedy
Jefferson Nickels are probably the only series you can collect in its entirety entirely from pocket change.
i realy enjoy searching boxes of nickels too the best results here are in brinks boxes . the oldest nickel i have found so far in rolls is a 1888 liberty one of 12 in three boxes keep looking and best of luck they are out there rick
