I was talking to a friend about my collection, and he says, do you want this? He then hands me this bill from his wallet, he had just returned from Austrailia and says that I could have it and wouldn't take any money for it. Notice the see through window on it. Pretty cool. I searched the note over and cannot find a year. Anyone know?
I had never seen a note with a see through window like this before. Is this common in other parts of the world, or just Austrailia?
Polymer banknotes are quite common again if you check out my collection on Banknotebank you will see quite a few :smile but all Australian notes are now made in this fashion, they were I believe the 1st to fully introduce the system. There are a number of sig variations for this note, yours is from 2002 the 1st 2 digits of the serial number tell me that :smile Governor Ian J Macfarland Sec Treasury Dr Ken R Henry Issued 02 Front Man on horseback herding horses, A B (Banjo) Patterson Rev Horse & dray, Two portraits of Dame Mary Gilmore (Old & Young) Extract from one of her poems
Nice note! I do love alot of the intricacies on the worlds polymer notes. They can get very intricate and very colorful! and yes, free is the best note to find, but they are rare
