I've broken away from errors for a few days and bought a few rare coins. Any guesses as to the grade?

See if you like it. :)

Way too bright for me to venture a guess, as it would more than likely be too low, due to the 'whitewash' effect. Though, it does look to be almost (if not totally) a FH, and I'm guessing it's a Teletrade image?

sorry, i can't really help with the grade, the pictures just look to washed out or something?

it seems to have nice details and one of my favorite coins. i was just explaining this coin to my girl tonight. i still don't think i got her interested much..:(

congrats on a nice coin though!

Nice call on the Teletrade! I'll do some REAL photos of it as soon as I can. Coin Microscope is on order.

Here's the same photo with the exposure reset in Photoshop. This is closer to the way the coin looks.

It may give you a better idea of the coins surfaces and detail.

Hmmm, I think I see some very slight wear on the breast and the knee there, so I'll guess it is an AU-58 but it is really hard to tell with SLQs what I think is wear may be nothing more than just a shadow on the surface.

as long as the tone is original and not cleaned it looks MS 60-63 (little on the high end Im thinking )

I also see some light rub on the knee of lady liberty, and what looks like some very light rub on the eagles breast. I want to say AU 58 FH. Of course its hard to tell from those pictures what kind of luster there is. Look at the "a" and "r" in quarter on the reverse. See that stuff inside? Thats what couldn't be dipped off. A very nice looking SLQ indeed.

It's graded and has no suggestion of being cleaned. The luster on the coin is great and gives a great "cartwheel" when turned. I'm going to take this one to my dealer as I think it's under graded. I had one years ago that looked almost the same, but it was cleaned and showed in the fact that it had none of the original luster. As soon as I can take my own photos, I'll post them. I've been doing photography for 32 years, have a (worthless) degree in Professional Photography and did Motor Sports and Car Show photography for the last 3 years, but I'm unable to work now. I pride myself of my photos and know I can do better that the photographer that did these shots.

I do see the lightest rub at the knee and eagles breast as suggested above. I'm not sure of the "FH." What makes it a Full Head? What do I look for?

    Thanks,
    Ben

I love that coin! SLQs are one of my favorite series in US coins.

I see a little wear on the eagle's tail feathers and the gown line where it crosses lady liberty's right thigh. AU-55 to AU-58.

It might just be the imaging, but the coin looks AU (due to rub on both of Liberty's legs as well as on the eagle) and lightly cleaned.
