I just acquired this little guy for my personal collection. I have come across these little teapots over the years but many did not have the handle or the lid, but this one did so I just had to have it! I think it's the cutest piece of exonumia I have seen!
My daughter would love something like that, thanks for displaying it on here. Really neat find and quite unique!
That is the neatest thing, Charmy! Fantastic little piece. I remember another post of yours awhile back involving exonumia... I believe it was some Large Cent with a milled edge? "hand milled"? ... Something along those lines. You find some pretty neat exonumia, while I never seem to have the luck to stumble apon even a decent piece. Thanks for Sharing, Brian
Thanks everyone. I am informed that the teapots were made from various coins (barber dimes, Lincoln cents, etc.) at a prison in western Massachusetts as an inmate industry. and that there originally was a little card that went with them that explained what they were and how they were made. Brian, yes I have an Indian cent and large cent that were most likely turned into a pie cutter or gear. I also have an 1864-L Indian cent that someone engrailed the rim possibly as a jewelry piece, and some really neat rare Indian cent "Frying Pans." And one of my favorite Indian cent exonumia is a wonderful original turn-of-the-century watch fob.
Oh, Charmy! You're killing me here, with all the great stuff you come up with that I've never seen before or never heard of before. You continue to amaze me with your coin show reports and, of course the coins I've purchased from you.I thank you for all you give to this forum.
