I recieved notification in the mail today that I won these two beauties from an auction in Switzerland and I just had to share.... please be patient with me Austrian State - Olmutz 1714/3 Taler Wolfgang von Schrattenbach KM#128 / Davenport #1215 and this is one you don't see very often Leopold "Hogsmouth" and his bride Eleonora Magdalene German States - Augsberg 1689 Ducat KM#97 / Friedberg #71
Wow.That's niiiiiccceee! I have two observations. #1:Cardinal Wolfgang has just about the fanciest Crest/Coat of arms I've ever seen. #2:Eleonora there wasn't a raving beauty by any stretch, but I think Hoggie did OK ...considering
Both nice coins !! Looks like the taler was struck twice or else it's an overstrike. If it is - it's the cleanest overstrike I've ever seen. And that ducat is a tough one to find :thumb:
Mikijo, Here is a more proper painting of Mrs. Hogsmouth and the Holy Roman Emperor himself Doug, the 1714/3 date variation is singled out in both K&M and Davenport so I assume it is a recognized overstrike
