lord! please help me minimizes my yearly expensive on coin collecting. what's your new year's resolution regarding coin collecting?. tell us........... my new year's resolution are: continue to learn slab coin, e-bay trading, grading, and attending coin shows.
My new years resolution is to a) refocus my collecting on two goals (type and large cents), and b) sell off the extras that don't fit.
my new years goal is i will not spend money on coins i spent more than 25k this year and that has made me a lil worried
my coin resolution is to not let myself waste money on impulse buys that I will regret later (I do it a lot). For my life I am studying abroad, graduating college, and hopefullly finding my first career job. (it's going to be a big year) 25k? wow. I spent almost 700 and I though I was going overboard
My 2008 resolutions: 1. Finish my Peace Dollar set 2. study grading 3. Learn how to carve a coin like billzach.
i'm looking to finish off my 3 fine grade US collections; Wartime Jefferson nickels, Winged Liberty dimes 1941-1945, and Walking Liberty halfs 1941-1947. i will then put my energy and resources toward a Newfoundland type set in BU or better where possible. that should keep me busy for the better part of 2008 - nice Newfoundland coins aren't easy to find. -Steve
Please tell me you mean 7 hundred dollars, and not 7 hundred thousand. My new years resolution is to do a complete set of R MS 67 Lincolns cents. And when I fail to do that I'll settle for a VF B set. Also another resolution will be to learn more about this hobby, and share what I do know with others. That's what it's really all about I think. New Year's Resolutions. Such a tricky thing that I have become realistic. Last year it was to be meaner to other people at work. My reasoning? - I figured people would say "I can remember when clembo was a really nice guy". Honestly, I'm not really mean - sarcastic is a different story. Sooooo... this year's official CoinTalk resolution is (drum roll please)....to continue collecting coins.
I will search at least $10,000 in coins and bills from the bank, and keep detailed records of all my 'keepers' (IE wheats, silver, pre-1960 nickels, pre-1982 pennies, errors, foreign, star notes, pre-1995 notes ($1, $5, $10, $20, $50 and maybe $100 if I can afford to keep it), and pre-1976 $2 bills. I will start keeping my detailed records the first time I roll or bill search after January 1st.
I guess I resolve to just keep doing what I've always been doing, in regards to coin collecting, and thats just enjoy the hobby as I always have. As much as I'd like to say I'm going to buy better coins or spend a million dollars on a few coins I'd really like, thats not as important as keeping the status-quo. Maybe I'm just getting old and hate change...I don't know. Happy holidays!! Guy~
i forgot my additional new year's resolution is to try to start selling. i never sell any coin in my life.
my nu(mis) years resolution is to 1 save up for bigger buys (ie 20th ASE anniversary set) 2 finish type set
new plan for 2008 i am thinking of buying 2008 alaska bear and hawaii king statehood quarters. 2008 jackson's and van buren's liberty. and for 2009 lincoln cent. p.s. i might buy 2007 10th anniversary platinum 1/2 oz proof and reverse proof. this will be my first platinum coin if i really buy it. but i can also use this money to buy american eagle (w) uncirculated gold instead. currently bought a lot of 2007 five pc statehood proof and silver proof set. don;t ask me why?. i just like it.
To be more frugal than I have been the last six months. Would like to get the 1999 silver proof set but it costs so much. That is my main goal and a few silver eagles to go with the few that I hae
Heres mine 1) Get roll of each state quarters in 2008 2) Get a 2008 Silver Eagle 3) Work on type set. 4) Help get over my obsession with coins.:goofer:
Scrap number 4 on your list. You'd spend more money on therapy than you would on coins! GO WITH THE FLOW!
