Hey guys. I'm still working on the whole picture thing! My camera is old, and the macro isn't great. Plus I don't have a tripod or stand, and on top of it all its late and I'm using artificial light. Lol. I think I have it figured out...the next step is a better camera. Yay! So as a result these pics don't do this coin justice at all. The bottom half is blurry but I was trying to get all the aspects and with my current limitations I couldn't do so. But the bottom looks great in hand... More luster than I've ever seen on a walker in person, nice strong strike...all the details are there even though they don't show on the pics. Libertys head, breast and legs/dress are perfect, and on the back the upper and lower details are nice too. The strike on the bird's breast could have been better. The fields are very clean. As far as the tone on the front there is a nice orange forming on the top with some rainbow touches on the right. The back is truly awesome in person. The same orange is very striking, and the wings have a subtle pink. I got it today and it is already one of my top 5 fav coins in my collection. Thanks for looking
Your coin appears to have nice luster and some attractive toning-- I like it! If you can get the camera parallel to the coin that will show a lot more detail. I used to use a little tabletop tripod, and propped the coin against a small box, which usually kept things in focus. Then I found a cheap copy stand on eBAy. Keep practicing.
Thanks so much for the kind words and advice. I couldn't decide whether to get it parallel (wwhich would be a better shot but I couldnt use flash and it blocked out the natural light) or do it on an angle a bit (which made the bottom blurry but got the colors right). Im gonna practice some more but I still think a new camera is in the cards! Thanks again
BTW stands for Booker T. Washington - a commemorative half dollar. What you have is a WLH - Walking Liberty Half.
Looks like you have some nice details and some luster going there. The half dollar fan boy nation salutes your coin.
I don't really know much about American coins but this looks beautiful, I can never get a decent picture in artificial light, oh well maybe take one tomorrow morning and upload a new picture
Thats a nice walker and I love the tone. The photo thing is a art and I aint got it figured out yet either. lol :goofer:
