My new(old) Nero coin

    Dear All,

    Yes I am off the wagon completely, just arrived a Nero and some Rhodian drachms, sorry pictures are not that great.

    NERO, 54-68 AD. AE DUPONDIUS (12.86 GM, 27MM). ROME MINT. STRUCK CIRCA 67 AD. RIC I 597
    Nero, 54-68 AD. AE Dupondius (12.86 gm, 27mm). Rome mint. Struck circa 67 AD. Obv.: laureate head left, with at point of bust. Rev.: Securitas seated right on throne, holding scepter; to right, garlanded and lighted altar; lighted torch and bucranium below.

    Both the OP coin and Steve's Victory as show the ball on the point of the bust usually accepted as a sign of the Lugdunum mint.

    Interesting ... is that actually a truth, or merely today's awesome observation? (I have never noticed that there was a "ball" at the point of my dude's bust ... but yup, there it is!!)

    ... very cool (thanks => I'll append my coin-notes)

    Oh, and that really is the cool thing about the way that I keep my coins in "3-ring- binders" ... I can always add pages of forum-conversation to my notes, so things are never lost (try doing that with your 2 x 2 flips!!)
