Well, good news, I started work today at AJ's Fine Foods. I work in the bakery. with 2 cash registers! Today, there were a TON of ones in the drawer... probably $50+ in just ones. I didnt look through it though, as I didnt want to draw attention on my first day. lol But tomorrow, I'll pull them all out and look. Also, I told my coworker, that Sunday I cant work since Im going to help out someone (AZ Jack) at a coin show. And he said his mom said someone she knew had some old coins. So tomorrow Im going to give him my number and I might be able to check out some stuff, and possibly make an offer! So far, so good. Hopefully I'll be able to post here within the week about some cool dollar bill I found,. haha.
Coingratulations, just be sure to check with your manager about purchasing finds, or at least involve another person doing the exchanging for you. It is like in a bank, you have to be careful how you handle the cash. I do recall another CT'er being fired for buying stuff out of the register without manager's approval.
I worked PT for the fun of it at a retail store some time back, and did occasionally purchase older pennies, nickels etc. from the register, but with the manager's approval, and having someone else take my cash, deposit it, and return the goody to me. That was how this babe came my way:
Congrats on the new job - have fun at the show - and I hope someone comes in and pays for their cake with nothing but franklins
i know for me at my branch i work at i check out my straps all the time. if i do find something i am interested in i put it to the side. then do a withdrawl from my account or just take bills from my wallet and i have a co worker watch me as i exchange the bills or if i happen to see a coworker get something interesting in i always check it out.
Hello everyone, update. I came back with a goodie today. 2003 Atlanta Star Note. Serial: 06074889 I saw some high serial numbers, but I think for one's uncut sheets start at 960. right?
Cool Mag, Cash register jobs rule for coin/currency collectors. I got my first NM quarter today at Bashas by the way
I've worked as a cashier (and still do) at several places and they never mind if I take any specific coin or bill out of the drawer so long as I immediately replace it with the equivalent face value. Got a lot of foreign coins and wheat cents that way... my previous job I found a lot of silver Roosevelt dimes (and even a Mercury once). My current job I recently found a1957B silver certificate in the 1's... keeps me looking in the drawer often lol...
That's the key ! Even the appearance of impropriety can be fatal, even if it's actually on the up-and-up. Good luck, MagMan ! Happy searching.
hehe I know. Thanks. Thats why I make sure to switch it in such a way that people and mostly the Camera knows Im just doing a switcharoo
I'll tell you why you need to tread lightly. If a drawer is off, who do you think the first person to come to mind will be? "Hey Magman, did you find something good and forget to replace the money after you took it?" You don't ever want to be in that situation. Always make sure EVERYONE know what you've found and how you've replaced it in the drawer. Good Luck
BEware, there are hidden cameras focused on your every move. If they view video and see you looking at the bills serial numbers will think somethings up. May think your a federal agent... way too cool , enjoy! OT
lol...just started and already taking time off...lol Yeah, you have to be careful about your fingers in the till so they dont think your robbing them. Also, don't make a big deal about it if you ask your boss or they may decide to start grabbing for themselves. I found this happening where I work, so now I make no big deal about what I find and if they ask "is it worth anything?" I say no, just need for my collection. lol
yeah, I dont tell them that I wanted that specific note. I'll just tell them that I wanted a different one, or something. lol dont worry folks. I know where the cameras are and make sure to make it clear what Im doing. Also, I almost found a really cool repeater. Its not quite, but it could have been great - I do have it with me too. serial number: 25257625 lousy 76 ruining it...
