Just arrived in the mail one hour ago, I was so pumped about my latest gold aquisitions that I had to share them. Nothing too crazy, but nonetheless I dig'em. 1) 1854 Type 2 Indian Princess head gold dollar. She looks Low UNC or high AU (you guys tell me). Nice luster remaining, there were notoriously struck weak (from what I have read and researched), and I think this is an example as shown with the "8" in the date. 2) 1849 Liberty Head Gold one dollar. Original luster is gone but still shows very well. I wouldn't know how it would grade out. These are going to be keepers for me. Any thoughts on sending the indian head to be graded out?? As ive seen even in AU 53 they can bring around $400.00 I paid $280 for both coins. A wee bit over double gold value for both coins as a few days ago. My local coin guy here says I did pretty good, so that makes it even sweeter.
Thanks everyone, I went out earlier and got some airtites for them. Still haven't decided on grading the 1854 yet, I have one final opinion tomorrow that will determine if i'll send it out or not. Now....I just need to get lucky on a $3.00 Princess head and i'll be set.
