    Hi All,

I have bought more over the past week but not sure if its Ok with the Mod's to post so many links. If I get the OK from them I will post away.
I have to say that I am definitely hooked on Mercury Dimes and Steel Pennies, but the Indian Head Pennies are still by far my favorite.

I am on the look out when the price is right for a Three Cent, Two Cent and a flying eagle penny. Taking a look at currency bills as well.

That first Mercury is way too scratched up for my tastes - looks like somebody took a brillo pad to it.

The second Mercury is beautiful - looks like it has great die polishing lines.

The proof nickels are lovely - I like the reverse devices on all of them.

    That's just my take.

I sure am loving that second merc. They are by far my favorite coin.

The first coin is melt material, so after shipping, you overpaid. The second looks okay other than the spots, but seems a fair coin for the price considering the venue. The third is a generic offering, so until the coins arrive, you've no idea how they will look, but chances are they will be fine.

Have you looked for a local shop or show yet? If not, you would be wise to do so since such coins can often be had cheaper, plus you can weed out the dreck by examining in-hand.

You know I thought the first Merc was a bit scratchy but wanted to get a merc Dime for my daughter who is so into coin collecting now she knows the coin minting for Pennies and Nickels from the start and the commeratives as well. LOL I created a 7 year old numismatic.

I have one reputable coin shop nearby and they said a month ago they were out of the 04 - 05 Nickels so I am stuck trusting e-bay sellers after I read a ton of their feedbacks.

These I bought from E-Bay a week ago let me know your thoughts please. Thanks

What is going on with that steel cent? Rust coloration? And is that lamination problems on the forehead or just corrosion?

Don't put a lot of weight into feedback. Remember that an ignorant buyer can leave great FB even for a bad buy, and some of the biggest dreck dealers on ebay have excellent ratings. While there is nothing wrong with taking FB into consideration, I feel it would probably be best for you to focus more the coin itself and how the seller presents themselves (are they professional, are there red flags, etc, etc) than worry about ratings. Contrary to what many here will say, I see nothing wrong with sellers who do not have large sales numbers. Everyone had to start somewhere, and just because someone is not slanging dreck left and right, this does not make them questionable. Just take your time and learn about the coins you are buying. None are rare or even scarce, so you should be in no rush to buy; in the long run you will be happier with your collection.

I just quickly scanned through the links; below are my initial impressions.

45-D 10C: far from Ch UNC. Overpaid more than 3x.
03 1C: Problem coin on more than one level. Similar coins can often be had in dealer bins/bowls for $0.50-$1.00.
43-P 1C: You could have done better for the cost.
37 10C: Did you notice that the listing shows a 1927?
    39-D 10C: Poor images.
    43-D 10C: Melt material. Overpaid.
    39-D 10C: Poor images.
