As a dealer I buy countless thousands of coins all the time. But, I buy maybe one a year for myself. Usually less than that. I got this today from CNG. When I saw it I just had to buy it. It is scarce (some may call it rare) and not the highest grade example, but for eye appeal its the nicest to me. Anyone else have one?

Talk about bug eye! Love it. The reverse is really nice, and the coin seems scarce.

Thats a neat coin, never seen the type either. And I agree with JW, very bug eye.

That's a nice addition, I'm unfamiliar with the type as well.

I have been looking for a nice denarius of Augustus for a while. The OP coin would be a great addition to any collection. I find that I really like the anepigraphic obverses.

Love that coin, new to me. Kinda reminds me of the song "Whistle while you work!"...

Great pick-up Ken, reminds of this coin I bought from Vcoins a few years ago. I wonder if the mints that produced these coins were in close proximity. Here's my bug eye. coins 037.jpg

It certainly stands out from the usual run of Augustus's silver coins. Nice catch!

Very interesting coin, Ken. I'll bet it feels good to store one away with your collection and not instantly prepare it for resale.
The type with Augustus, instead of Apollo, and one lyre, instead of two, does seem to be rare. Congratulations, bro!

Cool pick-up Ken and one I haven't seen before either.

Seriously, You only add one coin a year to your collection, while purchasing so many for business?? I would be sooo tempted to keep a few more for myself, but then I just returned to collecting---basically starting all over again--- January, 2015 and I'm sure you already have an impressive collection of your own.
