Congratulations John. Herennia Etruscilla is not the easiest Roman woman to obtain. The details, while not sharp, are strong enough to make this a very nice addition to your collection.
I disagree with that, shes pretty easy. Anyways nice coin, its got a decent weight too. Mine is below. Herennia Etruscilla (249 - 253) AR Antoninianus O: HER ETRVSCILLA AVG Draped bust right on crescent, hair in straight lines with long plait carried up the back of head, stephane in hair.* R: PVDICITIA AVG Pudicitia, veiled, seated left, drawing veil with right hand, transverse scepter in left. 23mm 4.2g RIC IV, Part III, 59b (Trajan Decius)
Herennia Etruscilla AR Antoninianus 249-251 AD Diameter: 21.2-25.2 mm Weight: 4.2 grams Obverse: HER ETRUSCILLA AVG - Diademed and draped bust Reverse: PVDICITIA AVG - Pudicitia seated, drawing veil and holding sceptre
Whilst she isn't too difficult to obtain her coins often have their faults. These may be flatness of strike, uneven strike, die clogging etc. The three examples here are better than most that I have seen offered in general. I find it interesting that there is such a difference in the hair. stevex6s great example shows the familiar waved hair like the Marcel wave from the 1920s. Mat shows the other hairstyle with the straight hair and long plait which doesn't seem to turn up as often. Lovely coins all. It makes me want to go and find one for myself again. I sold my own examples some years ago. Martin
