I got this at the coin shop today. I've been looking for a nice AU for my type set. This one showed up. What you think it grades? BTW taking pics of old cents and coppers is harder than it looks.
I was looking for a AU one, but couldn't pass on this one. I hope its not Au, but the hit on the front and the hit on the reverse IMO keep it from being a strong MS coin. I was looking for an AU because all of the MS-63 ish coins that I have seen have been beautiful but above my budget. Its got a nice wood grain look to it, hard to photograph.
Nice Tater My eyes are playing tricks with me, it looks incuse like a $5 Indian Gold, I am sure I am just up too late tho.
Might be the angle I took the photo. I have a new DSLR and haven't got the camera, light and coin position down like I did with my old camera. Need to take more pics.
Very Nice! I hope it is MS also. So difficult to distinguish by photos, but I would lean that way, especially as I see no wear on the eagle's breast. Nice coin! Jim
Great pickup. Hey Jack you been sniffing that hot sauce again? The coin could hit in the early MS range. Its real difficult to tell from the pictures but I the same thing the other Jim sees.
It's actually in a yellow/gold PCI slab. They graded it MS-60. IMO I think they were on with this on. I don't say that too much with PCI, but I guess even a broken clock gets the time right at least twice a day.
I honestly think this one may have been graded a shade low. It is a beautiful coin with some excellent eye appeal, more than your usual baggy ms-60
welcome back, RickieB Very nice coin, Tater! I'll own one of these some day. Assume the obverse right dentils are obscured by the slab and/or camera angle or is it an offstrike?
Jack, Are you sure that you haven't been sipping on something else named Jack? I come from the State where it is made. Frank
It does look off centered though it may be the holder. I can't detect any wear. Definitely a beauty. Bruce
