Here is my latest. It is rumored that there will also be an "Irish Wolfhound" proof coming soon. Issue limit: 15,000 pcs 92.5% Sterling Silver
That is sweet Ripley, thanks for posting it! I love Irish coins, I love Iceland too. I just hope they don't find out about each other. (you forgot to add a pint to that list)
Since I have two Irish coin collector's here, is the harp exclusive to Irish coins or have you seen any other country feature it? I have a coin/medal/token/ worthless junk piece, I'm trying to attribute. It's dated 1820 with no legend, no value and no denomination on it. The harp is the lone feature on one side and a unidentified male bust on the other. The harp does not have the Royal Crown above it either.
This eBay listing is of a piece matching your description. I'd say it's maybe a pseudo-coin, close enough to an actual design to pass but not so close as to be an actual counterfeit. http://cgi.ebay.com/1820-HIBERNIA-COLONIAL-HALFPENNY-TOKEN-holed-/260755974462?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cb644693e
Can you post a photo? It sounds like it's Irish. To the best of my knowledge Ireland is the country with a harp on the reverse
I'll do a little searching in my Windows Gallery, I have a rough idea when I photographed it. Where I hit the brick wall was in the Krause catalogs. I have them from 1701 forward and found nothing under Ireland that matches.
Thanks Bruce, I picked this up from Royal Scandinavian Mint (https://rsmint.com/cart.aspx). I was searching for Iceland and found Ireland, LOL. I dont like buying off the internet but when I saw it I had to have it of course. They have a real nice site and I had the coin in my hand in 3 days! I would purchase from them again.
