Here is my latest variety coin. I really like these half dimes. I wonder though how they were carried back in the day? They are so small. A little bit bigger than the Liberty Head gold dollars. This coin is FS-H10-1858-302 (003) due to it's inverted date kinda in between the date. It may be hard to see. My question is in regards to the reverse-There are die clash marks on the reverse. Do these marks add value or take away value from this already attributed variety? And is there another variety that it should be attributed to along with the one already given it?

I also really like half dimes. I think their size is what I like so much. I also like the silver 3 cent pieces for the same reason.

I'm thinking the die clashed reverse was the normal for this variety. No effect on value. Cool coin.

I was thinking that also after doing some research. Also most the others available online were clashed as such or close to it. It does add a bit a character though.

I agree, the die clashing or any other errors on a coin add to its appeal. As long as it isn't PMD, these kind of things give the coin a distinct look. I like your half dime gawdroxx.

Personally and professionally, the die clashing should not affect the value or price of this coin. And like your wrote, it possibly is part of what makes this coin a variety. I adore half dimes and want to compliment you on your dime. It is lovely.

Nice coin :D, anyone else think our old currency was 50000 times more attractive? Hmm more character to the currency back then too...if that makes sense

As I stated previously, I adore half dimes and want to share one or two of them with you Gawdroxx.

Notice that the second coin has a chop mark on it which I found to be pretty interesting.

I absolutely agree with you Matt, the old 19th century coinage (and currency) is so much nicer than the modern stuff.

Hey thecoinczar. Those are half dollars my friend. Still these are some cool examples of Liberty Seated half dollars. I do have the 1853 quarter to match that "arrows and rays" half dollar you got there. That chop mark is quite interesting. Can you tell what made the mark? Speaking of half dimes, I don't have a Capped Bust half dime yet. I will get some soon. I like their reverse. That eagle is a cool early example. They sure have changed the eagle substantially since that early one.

I look forward to checking out your half dimes bud.

Coinczar, you need to get those half dimes to a coin doctor quickly. They are very sick and have swelled up to ten times their normal size! And the 1853 has broken out with RAYS!!
