Were there variations in the alloys used for British Farthings of this period?

    How is the weight?

I don't see anything that jumps out at me and says it's a fake, but the weight of the counterfeits was typically well below normal.

    Great idea!
The top coin weighs 4.4g the others way in at between 4.9g & 5.1g..

Its possible its a contemporary counterfiet. However, another possibility is that the top coin was a metal detector find. This would account for the different look of it, and possibly the lighter weight. Copper is an extraordinarily reactive metal.

Does anyone haev experience with say metal detector find large cents, and the weight variations that can be seen?
