    She wants to know if she's a type 1 gal or a type 2 gal. How can l I help her figure this out? She drank some 100 proof liquor and her memory is hazy like her finish.

    Not sure if there was a wide rim, close rim. But there is a filed S, and an clear S.
    Type 1 and Type 2.

    From these pics, I'd say she's a 1. the BEST way to tell is NOT from the S's shape per se, but from its very face itself. If the S comes to a plateaued top, like a mesa, it's a 2; if it is an S-shaped "hill" with a rounded summit, it's a 1. You need to get in close with a good glass and examine the summit of Mount S.

    You're wery velcome. Now, the 1970-S small date cent is a killer, compared to Susie '81.

    Yeah, the 1981 S Type 2 are pretty straightforward once you have seen a few of each. Flat, white (usually, due to the cameo contrast) and knobby at both ends. (So, so many jokes there...)
