I think it looked better before, but what it is now isn't bad ;)

While I respect your right to do with the coin as you see fit, I gotta say that I'm with the "before" camp.

    I also like it before.

I have to agree that the "before" was better.

Oh yeah? I think I'm a fan of it after. I wasn't a big fan of the big fat finger print. Although I do like the originality of it before. I still have one "original" that I wouldn't dream about dipping.
    Over all. I'm happy.

If you click on the "After" picture and look at the enlarged picture, you'll see that the fingerprint is still there.

Even with that, put me down for liking the "After" better.

Oh yeah, for sure it's still there, but not nearly as noticeable.

  11. I am a fan of the after because of that fingerprint. If the fingerprint wasn't on there in the first place I would've gone with the before.

I got say I like the "before" but I also like the "after", simply because I like the coin itself. So I guess my opinion really dosen't matter.

Before here as well. I have dipped coins before, but those were the ones that I know because of wear, they are only worth BV anyway.
    To each his own however

Thanks Noost, I was quite worried about doing it improperly. I guess ew'll see if it turns pitch black in 25 years, :goofer:

Shawn, I think you did ok!!! The coin in my opinion is much better. It is tough but some folks don't realize is that a really dark crusty coin is tough to sell.

Well Snaz, since you fessed up about dipping, why not tell us the solution, time, supporting the coin, rinse , dry...... Some newbie might see how well you did it and try it with tomato sauce and let it soak overnight. If someone is going to do it, might as well try to explain how to do it right.:thumb:

Jim ( I liked it better before also):p

    Well,

You didn't kill it Snaz but I would have left it as it was personally.

Mind if I ask what you used as a dip?

  19. I agree. You definitely upped its selling value to a common customer.

    Thanks Tom!
Sure Jim, I rested... (this is embarrasing) the coin on toothpicks under the acetone for about 15 seconds, after taking it out, the acetone promptly dried up. I grabbed some qtips and dipped those in the solution and "rolled" them over the surface of the coin.(keep in mind I would NEVER try this on an MS or proof coin)
then I dipped the coin by the rim in filtered water from the fridge door, :goofer: twice with new water both times, then pat dried it.

Im sure Ill catch some flack for this, but I am happy with the end result.

I like the before...the fingerprint gives it character. Someone left a lasting print on that coin. Its kinda cool...
But the after is pretty if you like em shiny..haa
