Well it has always been a dream to own a Indian Head quarter eagle. I finally bought one. :smile What do you think?
Congrats! Nice coin. Did you buy it raw? You have to be *very* careful with buying these, especially raw, they are one of the most heavily counterfeited series. Hard suckers to spot too....but alot of them have fine toolmarks in the neck of the indian, counterfeits, that is.
Very nice MS quarter eagle! Where'd you get it? The only quarter eagle I have is a classic head design..1834 I do have a $5 indian but it is only AU58. The $5 indians get expensive in MS!
I remember my first quarter eagle Mine was a 1912 PCGS AU55, I bought it on Christmas day, on ebay Be careful buying these raw! Fakes galore, and pictures are not always as the seem... The coins will look different in hand, and don't be shocked, nobody can ever capture what these coins look like 100%, they do look kinda different at all angles Yours looks to be a uncirculated example, and please tell us what NGC says...
Awesome quarter eagle schatzy!!! If authentic, what do you think the grade is? I see nothing holding back from MS65? It certainly looks much better than my 63!
My gut says MS62, these are really hard to grade. MS65 are really hard to get. If it grades MS63 I would flip!!
Very beautiful coin. I've always thought of this coin and it's half eagle counterpart as very interesting pieces because of the recessed design. I eventually plan on getting one for my type set. Congrats again - let us know NGC grades it.
