Wow im so happy I found a 1983 s proof quarter in a roll of quarters I got from the market next to my house!
Nice find! The last time I found a proof quarter in circulation (maybe the only time), it was also a 1983-S, if I remember correctly. The weird thing is, I found it under the front passenger seat of my car. It was a bit hairlined and had obviously circulated a tiny bit. I must have gotten it in change and not noticed its different appearance, then dropped it. Or maybe it had been inside the seat cushion all along, ever since someone else owned the car, and it just fell out onto the floor one day.
Only one I ever got. Looks better in hand. It had luster so I looked closer. Always a shock when it's something you don't expect. Yours is awesome.
