Picked this up today at my LCS, love the buffalo (same vignette as the 1901 $10 LT??), The woman on the front is a looker too. I think I got a bargain on it - any MPC specialist can help me out with value? Greensheet seems way too low compared to realized eBay auctions.

It looks to be UNC. The green sheet that I mhave is old, but the UNC price is $45-$50. Nice find.:)

Pablo the Bison was engraved by Marcus Baldwin and graces the face of the $10 United States Note Series 1901...in my Engraving Reference Books it does not list Pablo as being used on the MPC $1 Note Series 692.

After consulting another reference "Comprehensive Catalog of US Currency" it list's the Series 692 and makes mention of the "Buffalo" being used on the face of the Series 1901 notes as well as a postage stamp.
I find it interesting that a more precise announcement of Pablo being used on these 2 other releases not being credited to Baldwin.

Something to dig into I suppose. Nice note.

Yes, that is Pablo on the back of the 692 $1.00 MPC.

    $60-70.00 is about right.

Great note! based on what i see if it is unc. the margins look really good if everything else
Is good no folds or creasing or foxing on the corners i would say an easy 67 and up!
If graded the value would be substantially more i would say $275 in this grade easily
Take in to account that there are only 3 68,s one which i will post here so with rareity
Like that you can expect to pay 3-4 times that just because there so scarce.

I had one I didn't know anything about and posted over in this thread here:

    http://www.cointalk.com/t219909/

Anything anyone might be interested in? Any offer considered.

Sorry for crashing this thread but I wanted to offer this to an MPC collector before I put in a grab bag bound for eBay.

The series 681 5 cent you have posted look,s like it has a few issues and
To me would grade no higher then VF+ the value would be at best $7-$10

This population report of TPG'd MPC is only significant if you are trying to inflate values. Condition rarity in MPC is meaningless if you truly understand the MPC market. As I have said in previous discussions of MPC, there are significantly more high grade MPC outside of TPG holders than inside. That is especially true of the later series. Spend $275.00 if you want on a note in plastic or pay a reasonable price for one outside. It is your money.

I think the TPG,S perform a valuable service to any collector especially for someone that is
Trying to build the highest quality sets, i guess what it comes down to is what your goals
    And opinions are.
