So I took the drive to the coin shop and really didnt want to come back empty handed :goofer: I got a few cents for my canadian collection, and I picked up these 2 Morgans.. any comments on Grades? I also picked up a Merc dime for more than I wanted to pay.. But he's teh closest shop within 500 Km's so.... thanks in advance:thumb:
and I realize the 1900 looks like its been rubbed with an S.O.S. pad in the picture.. lol but trust me it dosnt look like that in hand
Strong MS63, solid shot at MS64. Good strike for a '21; many are weak. Few marks, and not bad. There are a few on the cheek which might cost it a 64. Nice cartwheel luster ! I bet it looks sharp in hand. Something about the hair above the ear looks a little odd... maybe that's just me. The 1900 is clearly cleaned. Reverse, just east of the arrows - bad hairlines. Maybe brushed.
thanks alot guys!! I think I did good for my first Morgans.. maybe not on the 1900, but it was super cheap... and the 21 I got for 35$ good deal? Finally having one of my own feels awesome... thanks alot jerks, you guys got me hooked on another series:headbang::headbang:
Nice Morgans! That 21 is pretty nice, say MS-63 from me, maybe a 64. That 1900 like said looks cleaned though, still nice IMHO. Very nice. :thumb: BTW, if you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay? Phoenix
There have been a lot of "uncirculated" 1921's on ebay lately. Does "uncirculated" guarantee a fairly nice coin? Thanks.
No. Absolutely not. Only your good eyes can guarantee anything. Low end MS coins often have less eye appeal than a high end AU coin. There are reasons why an MS61 is on the low end of unc, just like there are reasons why an AU58 is on the high end of circulated. Most MS61s are pretty baggy - and that's not just Morgans.
