My first Monogram this year

    I acquired this Byzantine monogram which has the Greek letter Gamma as officina. The obverse seems very clear for that type of coins and is also in a sandy patina. I do appreciate your thoughts. Thanks.. GammaMon O.jpg GammaMonoR.jpg

    A very nice coin indeed! I don't collect Byzantines, but I understand it can be tough to find coins with such clear monograms on both sides.

    These come from other mints which replaced the officina letter (gamma) with the initial of the mint city. The oddball is Antioch use of a cross which I take to refer to their name Theopolis (Godcity).
