My mom gave me lunch money (dont forget im 14, a freshman in highschool) and I went to spend it. It was a 5 dollar bill. I took a quick glance and did a double take. I noticed the back was different, checked the date, and it was a 1969 C. It has a couple pin-head size holes and a bleach looking stain on it, and its been folder, but I bet I could get a couple dollars over face value lol. Any thoughts questions or comments would be apreciated! Grant
I definitely would keep it. I have really started to believe that if you make a cool find like that and you like the note...hang on to it. You got it for face value so if you ever REALLY need the money, you can always use it. Most of my currency collection came from circulation as notes that I liked for one reason or another. I consider it a collection and an emergency-last-resort savings account. Hang out to it and nice find!!!
whats really cool grant is that you skipped lunch so that you could keep that bill! youve got the bug! congrats! LOL
it IS worth more then face, but possibly not alot. I would keep it, or if you need the money for lunch - believe me, we all know the hardships of collecting when you need to eat but if you need the money - might i suggest offering the note in the open section. a fair price with fair shipping would make you and a potential buyer happy
It is worth more than face, but you would be hard pressed to find a dealer that is willing to pay it. That's an awesome find (considering I don't have a 1969C $5 found from circulation yet) and definitely a keeper. Congrats.
