That's a good start lol... My first gold coin I received as a Christmas gift, a 2005-W 1/10 oz. American Gold Eagle. So far its only company is a 1929 Indian quarter eagle. I may get another soon if I get a decent tax refund this year (last year's refund is what financed my last gold purchase lol...)
A double eagle is a nice first gold coin! that was mine also, an 1899. Enjoy it, think about just how much that coin represented back in the day. For instance, a worker on the Ford assembly line in 1914 made five dollars a day. That gives you an idea of the value, and buying power that coin represented back then. ps, DONT lose it! :thumb:
Reminds me of a post somewhere, where someone pointed out that 100 years ago $20 was enough to buy a high quality, custom taliored men's suit. $20 couldn't buy that today, but the amound of gold in a double eagle could be sold for enough to do that. Of course with gold at what it is now lol maybe 2...
Ricky, For someone with a gold coin as his icon, I certainly hope this won't be your last! I bought, or shall I say asked to be sent to me for approval, a gold coin today too. Pics in a few days. Have fun...Mike
