I never have been one to collect gold coins but today I went for it. A 2002 n g c certified ms 70 $5.00 gold eagle, now I know it is only 1/10 of a oz but it is my first,it's gold and it is mine next up indian head gold:thumb:
Well - welcome to a path that has been trod by many. :high5: But be aware, once one takes the first step upon the yellow brick road there is no turning back
I started with 1/10 oz gold, too. My mom then gave me a $2.50 liberty head that belonged to my great-grandmother, and bought a $5 and $10 gold piece. Finally, I recently got a $10 Indian Head. You are on the right track.
Doug it is your fault remember when you told me about the indian gold. But that is ok because all I do is think about gold I have a pan under my bed a burro in my back yard and I live in az BADGES WHAT BADGES I AIN'T GOT TO SHOW YOU NO STINKIN BAGGES
Hey good for you Bruce! Here's how I scratched the Gold itch. I started with a 1978 one ounce Krugerrand, then a quarter ounce AGE. Next a plunge for a one ounce AGE, then a one tenth ounce Proof AGE (now that's a nice one). And then a one tenth ounce AGE bought on e-bay of all places. I came so close to getting a one ounce AGE yesterday for $600. But I have to get my chimney rebuild this summer so I can go back to burning wood. So you got a certified MS70, it doesn't get better than that.
Bruce, My father had hidden a hoard of gold coins each weighing a little over a 1/4 ounce to under 1/4 ounce. after he died I found this and almost died myself in disbelief. This got me started in collecting the same way.I realize you lose a lot of money buying this way,but its worked for me. I think right now i have over 1200-1300 coins. I stopped counting awhile back. Its hard to stop once you start. Good luck, Bruce
Well I like modern gold - but none of the old stuff. One of the only complete sets I have is the proof 1/10 AE. Missing just the 1988 1/4 oz for my other complete set. How about some pictures of the world gold you own? Maybe next time I am at the coin store I will look at some of their world stuff. I have shopped their other gold and never like the designs much less the price.
Bruce& Mark, You have inspired me to finally start working on a complete set of $5 AGE's.I have 2001-2006 and just placed an order for an '86.Only 14 to go LOL. I also have one 1911 Indian and a $10 AGE from 1999.
Thanks Doug was the one that inspired me, how come his name is always coming up when I move in a new direction? Man I hope he does not talk about food I do not need to put on more weight.:kewl:
No worries there - when you collect gold, there's no money left for unimportant stuff like food In fact you can think of it as a dieting aid
with the prices of gold the way they are that is certainly the truth, right now 1oz of gold is the equivalent of one months groceries at my house
Greetings, I will pull out some coins and when daughter comes over I will have her show me how to get them to this site. Bruce
