The pics aren't good but better than the sellers. I posted this on the newest acquisition thread but wanted to see what error collectors thought. I felt it was a bargain at less than $12. This is way better in hand.
You got a great deal on a nice coin. Double struck coins which are die struck on both sides are much more attractive and worth a good deal more than uniface strikes.
Yes nice find and price I have about 100 Jefferson mis strikes and would not sell one for 3 times what you paid. You can't find these any longer in bags. The machinery at the mint picks them out before bagged. A real plus on your specimen is you can read the date. that adds value. I'm going to post one I found not to highjack your thread just to prove a point if you like mint errors. Ask any Jefferson collector what adds the most to a coin and they will say Full Steps and a high grade. More so full steps as a MS 66 does not command the value as an MS-64 FS nickel. Have a look at this>>>> found in a mint bag no date but....
I like that one Paddy. I was wondering if I should have a dealer send it off for grading or is it worth the trouble? I'm not a member of any grading company but I could take it to a coin dealer and he will send it in for $50 does that seem like a fair price? And again is worth doing?
For $50 go buy yourself a few more coins. Don't worry about getting errors graded enjoy them. If you had a unlimited budget I say go for it.
Kind of my feelings. $50 isn't a big deal but I buy a lot of what I think are bargains so you're right I could find me another 4 of these with some patients LOL
