I got took by my first counterfeit coin
    In many years of collecting
I did not get out side the area of my focus of collecting
and it kept me from such troubles. Well,I will not make that mistake again
I also had it pointed out to me by a very knowledgeable gentleman
on e-bay. That saved me much more head aches than just being burned
by the person I purchased it from. Boy did I appreciate that.
Here are some pictures of it for people to learn from my mistake.
    Be Careful out there:rolleyes:

Looks like a lower quality fake. These coins are great, (real ones), as they were minted in Paris for Mexico.

I would say that I see more fakes on Ebay of this coins than real ones. A real one will be well struck and usually are not found very worn. A real one is quite pricey since it is a beautiful, short lived design. What this coin shows is not wear, but weakness. Weakness in a real coin would be caused by grease or a weak strike, but in this case it is from being a cast fake.

I would say this coin, unless you know what you are doing and can see it in person, ranks right up there with US and British Trade Dollars as being so heavily faked you should not buy one unless certified.

You can tell that it is fake by some areas in the lettering around the border being strong, and some being weak. Coins don't wear like that.
