I just used a common Monticello Nickel to take my first pic. There was a lot of extra crap around the coin that I cut out and I know the coin isn't perfectly aligned but I didn't spend that much time using it. What do you guys think of it like quality wise? http://i42.tinypic.com/2m3o078.jpg
Very nicely done in my opinion. Well focused. Just a little bright on the left side but very good over all for a first picture. What camera did you use?
LOL! That's a great photo for a phone. I was just getting ready to type that it would probably be considered in the top 10% here, quality wise! I know the camera on my phone's 3.2 megapixels. I've seen at least one phone out there with a 5 megapixel camera when I was looking at them last year. The LED flash probably made it too bright. That's the only thing. I think the lens is so small that you have to get pretty close up and it would be hard to have adequate lighting. But that will do the job for most questions you're going to have. If you want to get closer, shoot through a loupe.
Here's a few off my camera phone at 3.2 megapixels, just to show the dynamic range. The zoom quality is incredible. I got one of a tree frog I wish I could blow up to show the quality from what the pic was. The cameras in these phones nowadays are really good for how small they are. The lens is about 1.5 mm.
