My First Coin Grading Submission

I joined NGC the end of last year with my ANA credentials receiving a bit off the membership plus a $150 grading credit. So, I gathered up a few raw world coins and sent them in for grading. I chose 7 coins, 5 of which will remain in my personal collection. I'll have to say the turnaround was long, but I did submit economy and right before the holidays, so I certainly didn't do myself any favors! Overall, I'm happy with the experience.

The first coin is a Hungarian pengo that I thought was MS, but received an AU55 grade. Either way, it's an attractive coin with a nice crescent of toning.

Secondly, a coin that graded MS61 from Latvia. I've had this coin for a decade or more. If I remember correctly, I paid less than $20, shipped from Europe. On the right of the obverse on the slab is a bit of cardboard from the shipping box. I'm just now noticing it in the picture!

The two following are Maundy pennies from 1837 and 1905 graded MS61 and MS64 respectively. These smaller coins are just about impossible for me to get a good picture of with my phone. But, I'm attempting a collection of a Maundy penny from each king/queen.

And finally, three coins from the German States.

And the final two German States coins.

And my absolute favorite coin of the submission, a 1630 8 Heller from Cologne. I thought this coin had a shot at an MS grade, but fell just short!

The submission process was fairly easy as I took advantage of the online submission form. I am currently in the process of selecting the next submission! Thanks for looking.

Nice selection to have graded. I particularly like that Ravensburg 1 Pfenning. Thanks for sharing.

I recently did my first submission as well, but with ANACS and 16 Canadian coins. Also over the holidays, finally got them back Monday. I also thought one was MS that got AU58, it stinks when they pick the wrong side of the slider. Your MS61 grades make me wonder - I expect to see a fairly beat up coin.

There was a recent thread about grading small coins that I can't seem to find. I think marks on these small coins "cost more points" if you will. It actually has a decent amount of luster. It was sold to me as AU, so I'm happy with the MS grade!
