Any opinions on grade/what I should have paid for it would be appreciated.

I'd like to see the top middle ribbon better but I think it is VF30

Have you ever seen me with a Grey Sheet to pull out a price. Go ask Hobo or Arizona Jack :)

I'd call it an F12 due to shield line detail. Decent motto detail but WE weak as usual.

Will point out that 1866 is a much tougher date than most people realize. Don't believe me? - try finding decent examples.

Concerned about the reverse on this one though. What's with the "chalky" areas?

Value? Gonna give a big spread here. $15-20.

Greysheet ask on F12 is $19 BTW.

    Thanks Clems

Just out of curiosity what would it go for at VF30?

VG/F -- If you paid around $20, you did fine.

I think you did fine for $10.

The surface looks a bit corroded. Is that the case?

Very nice 2-cent piece. I have always really liked those. An excellent first from the series.

Maybe light verdigris on the reverse, but nothing major.

Not really if you have ever seen heavy verdigris compared to that wispy kind.

either way it needs to be treated, if it hasn't already because it is an active chemical reaction.
