Well, I've been looking forward to the Fall PNNA, especially because I missed the Spring one up in Tukwilla. It was a busy show, lot's of dealers. There was a lot of nice looking material, just most of it was out of my budget range. Not much grabbed my eye that fit within my budget though. I did manage to bring home 3 coins. 2 of them were $5.00 each, I posted those on the Under $50.00 thread. The third coin was yet another 1938-D Buffalo. This one has the deepest Golden hue, I've seen on a Buffalo yet. It looks almost as if it was struck from 18K Gold. It's also, from what I can make out a 1938-D/S OMM-04 in NGC MS-66. It's die characteristics match my other MS-66 to the T. Here's the other two coins. The first is an uncirculated 1957 Washington Quarter Type B Reverse. And a nice attractively toned 1947 Roosevelt Dime.
Your photo makes me want to re shoot my golden Buff, in an old NGC holder, Real nice buys, specially the 38D
Thanks, I just can't get over how deep that gold color is. It looks as if it had been accidentally struck on a $5.00 gold planchet. The obverse has a break in the gold tone at the top of the knot, the cheek and down the tops of the braids. Those areas are a gorgeous mix of very light lavender, steel blue and the silver nickel color. I have another one that I won on eBay this morning before I even went to the show. I was the only bidder on it, but I HAD to have it. It's in an old NGC holder with the gold NGC monogram hot stamped on the plastic. The Nickel also appears to have a very deep gold tone to it. It looks like it was struck really well. I would love to get it to CAC and get a Gold Bean on it. Now if I could just afford to collect real gold the way @jwitten does... LOL
It's kind of his niche. I passed on a 5 D a few years back, one of my biggest regrets. 63 PCGS. I am gonna reshoot mine, can't wait to see your newest!
You know, I completely blame @Paddy54 for this '38-D obsession. It's the '82-S Morgan of the Buffalo type. It's just so hard to turn down an MS-66 coin that can be so well struck, have such great eye appeal and all for around $50.00 or less. It's the perfect coin for me.
Yes Justin to the question you asked about the polishing lines in the fields. I pulled my specimen last night and they are an exact match! Sure blame me for your lack of "no self control'' @Pickin and Grinin @jtlee321 You two do know that there's a thing called an "addiction center" a place for help...understanding, and they let you weave baskets all day long!
Awesome! I'm glad to hear those die polishing lines are on yours as well. I'm surprised they were not added as a die marker as they are very unique and easy to find. I can quit anytime I want!!! I just don't want to right now.
I'm glad someone else noticed those too. When I noticed them while examining it, they helped to seal the deal for me. I'm a crack head and I am proud of it!!
Nice pick ups and photography too. I like the colors on the dime. Hard to find attractive toning on those.
