My Dad got these Edmund Moy coins

    Hello,

My father recently got something in the mail and ended up purchasing these Edmund Moy coins, silver eagle, MS70. It looks like the one I've included in the picture, except that it has Edmund Moy's signature (or rather a printed signature - looks stamped or something). On eBay the ones pictures are going for about $65. My dad got his 'Edmund Moy' coins for between $95 and $115. I'm pretty sure he got the T-2s.

Is the Edmund Moy brand worth extra? I have my doubts that it is. Isn't it more about the coin rather than the sleeve?

    Thanks for your help.

I'm completely lost, who the heck is Edmund Moy and most of that coin stuff that comes in mail are scams and overpriced like Littleton. To me I buy the coin not the slab and still most of my coins are raw.

Even the TPG label does not include his name. Is it on the reverse?

    Hello Kentucky,
Pawn Stars did have a silver round minted with the old Farts face on the obverse. I'm sure you can pick up one of those for a 'slightly' increased melt price!

Perhaps there were some surplus slabs with Moy's name on them.

He paid more for an autograph of a mint director to be included in the slab

But are mint director's autographs worth more than ones without? I'm totally new to this so I have no idea..

but the value is still in the coin, and not the slab, correct?

The TPG label does have the Edmund Moy signature, but the photo I posted was from an outside listing. It's on the upper half of the slab. The signature looks printed. His signatures don't make the coin worth more, right?

Almost always. I say almost because their are some slabs that are collectible. Sadly, I don't think directors of the mint will be one of those.

Think of this one as a Franklin Mint Collectible plate but it has a coin that has value attached.

His signature may raise the price a little but it’s just a marketing ploy.
