If you remember i started a thread asking everyone's opinion on how to display your coin collection, after some pms i decided to go ahead and host it up in a site i created. Starting off here is my collection of Modern French coins most of them acquired when i was there. http://modernpreciouscoins.com/Fr_Coins.html
Eset NOD32. It's known to be overly conservative though. I'll have to try from my desktop when I get home.
No security alerts here and you have some fine French coins there. By the way, the "50th Anniversary of the Republic" coins refer to the Fifth Republic, established in 1958. It followed the Fourth Republic but had (and has) a somewhat more presidential structure. The reverse shows Charles de Gaulle (left) in front of Marianne, personification of France. As for the two pieces at the bottom of your list, the last but one coin (2009) commemorates 50 years of the European Court of Human Rights www.echr.coe.int which is an institution of the Council of Europe, not of the European Union. And the last one is about the tenth anniversary of the euro coin starter kit. Those kits were first issued in (late) 2001. Christian
Numismat, Thanks for noting it read up on that issue it looks like it was due to Websense and they had not reviewed the site & assigned it a category. I contacted them and they updated it as Hobby site. Tyler, yea it a is a nice coin hoping US mint would make a similar coin for US mens' basketball team . chrisild, good catch and thanks for the info. Will go thru update the comment section at the latest.
That did the trick, I'm on it now. Wow, you got so many of the gold issues! I had some of the silver pieforts from the 1970's, but these are much nicer looking coins IMO.
I LOVE French coins. Just got a L'an 6 Cinq Centimes yesterday. Its seen better days but still beautiful. There's just something about French coin designs that I like, especially the early 1900's francs (don't have one just yet but workin on it). I'm actually doing my final project in French 1002 over coinage. So anybody who knows a lot about French coins PM me. But really, that is a great collection of moderns you got there. Here's a couple of my favorite moderns: Can't afford this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/FRANCE-2006-1-5-EURO-J-VERNE-JOURNEY-EARTH-SILVER-/260862450723?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cbc9d1c23#ht_2611wt_1037 And this one is just pretty (not to mention its a very cool place): http://www.ebay.com/itm/FRANCE-MONT...European_RL&hash=item336dafd061#ht_805wt_1037
Very nice french coins I wanted to ask where you get your coins other than the French Mint? I'm looking to get the 2009 1oz silver proof Astronomy coin but have been unable to locate anyone who is selling it. Do you have any sources I can check with? Thanks!!
i love french coins. although i dont have any from after they swithched to euro. heres a couple of mine
Difficult to draw a line between "modern" and "not modern", but 1896 or 1903 pieces are, for me, in the second group. Still nice coins though! The 10 francs coins I have too. And here are two recent issues - both are circulating €2 commems. The 2010 piece commemorates Charles de Gaulle's 18 June 1940 Appeal (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appeal_of_18_June). This year's coin is about the Fête de la Musique, a music festival created 30 years ago (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fête_de_la_Musique). Images are from cgb.fr as far as I remember. The other side, for both pieces, is the regular common reverse (see this image). Christian
Both talisman and govmint carry coins from Monnaie de Paris. But your best bet if you are looking to get at a good price would be the bay there couple good sellers who ship to America and frequently carry French coins i can pm you their names if you are interested. Calumsherwood, Pretty nice your pics came out well, i made the mistake of putting my coins in Air tite and not taking pictures of them before doing it.
Of course I like french coins, those are pretty cool. I seem to remember posting some of mine here, althought they're not all modern : http://www.cointalk.com/t192062/ Q PS : BTW here is my avatar coin
Nice how much did you get if for, i remember bidding on the item a while back but lost to ninja bidder.
I have some Frenchy coins up on my albums page, if anyone is interested at spying them. http://www.cointalk.com/members/jlblonde/albums/french-collection/ Of course, they are not as sexy as the ones posted up above, but I'll give them a rating of 7 on a topless (unslabbed) beach of coins.
^ Looks nice and your pics are very consistent what camera do you use? Cucumbor, pretty nice just notice apmex has few of those on sale but at the current price of gold it is listed at close to 1k. :rollling:
