Australia is one of my favorite countries to collect, coins and stamps, actually. I was extremely fortunate to locate a stunning 1966 proof set at a reasonable price a couple of months ago. Only the 1973 proof set is missing from among my 20th century Australian decimals.
nice coins. good to hear from you again. it's been awhile since we have seen you post. I was worried about you. welcome back. I like and have the 1st coin for my "coins with stars" collection.
Wait till you start having a few of these coins. They literally weigh you down. Two coins make an ounce so imagine having 10 dollars worth of these. 10 ounce!
I lived in Australia for a couple of years. I love their coins, so beautiful. But they do get annoying to carry around, especially all those $1 and $2 ones. When I was there I tried to collect all the different reverses that they have. I think I came home with like 40-50 different ones.
Question: I get the BBC news on my so called smart phone. Why is all the news from Australia and New Zealand included or categorized as or with Asia? They are miles apart...
Really? Maybe I should update my BBC app. Thanks. Anyways, back to coins. Nice selection of halves Siberian Man.
A list of Australian 50 cents coin can be found at the Royal Australian Mint website. http://www.ramint.gov.au/designs/ram-designs/50c.cfm Most 50 cents coin can be found rather easily however it gets difficult when the mintage numbers are less than 10 million. If you struggle to find a certain 50 cents coin, let me know and I'll see how hard it is to find from circulation.
I am trying to collect them all but several years are only in sets and they get relatively expensive.
And the last one. 50 cents 2000, copper-nickel, weight - 15,55 g., size - 31,5 mm, thickness - 3 mm, mintage - 5000000 pcs. Engraver: Vladimir Gottwald. "Royal Visit". The single release only.
