I found these coins in cent rolls with the exception of the 1/2 franc which I found in the reject bin of a coin machine. Anything worth more than face in that country? I know a 1/2 franc is equal to 50 cents US dollars.
a variety of world coins there, I remember the 1/2 francs use to turn up in change here in the uk. The canadian cent looks in good condition.
I also found a Bahamas cent but that is modern. We get plenty of Canadian pennies here, including young Elizabeth but this was the first George VI which has novelty value because of The King's Speech.
I find the 1/2 francs myself, nothing like finding a coin masquerading as a 10 cent coin that is actually worth 50 cents. I have a bag going of Swiss coins that turn up in machines and roll finds that I am going to sell for face value I hope.
Unfortunately, the 1/2 franc coin is not worth anything. Since the Euro was instituted, France accepted exchanges of coins until 2005. Now they are "demonetized," meaning worthless as legal tender. However, even before 2005 1/2 franc was not worth 50 cents. Typically, the rule of thumb for exchange was 5 francs to the dollar. Therefore, 1/2 franc would be 1/10 of a dollar, or 10 cents. Oddly, even if the coins aren't made of gold, silver, and copper anymore a similar size spends about the same.
Uh, it is a Swiss 1/2 franc coin - NOT French. Switzerland is not in the EU, or the Euro. It is valid legal tender coinage worth about 51 US cents at the moment.
Actually the French and Swiss coins are similar sizes, but vastly different values. I remember the French coins were a bit thicker than a dime though when I used them in France. If you find German and Dutch coins they are good until 2032, only France and some of the countries that have disposable money demonetized them and rather quickly. At least all the 100FF coins I saved in France and kept are worth more than 100FF would be today, since they were silver which is worth about 4X as much as when I was there.

I probably have near a dozen of the 1/2 franc coins that I find either in roll searches or find in the reject slots. My best find was a 2 franc coin earlier this year. Now if I can find one of the Vrenelli 20CHF in a reject slot I will be dancing.
I found this in a roll of nickels this evening. Swiss also, I believe? 20 Rappen. I know nothing about this coin.
Yes it is Swiss. The Confederatio Helvetica is Latin for "Swiss Confederation", they use Latin for their coins since it is a neutral language. Switzerland has four languages, Romansch, Italian, German, and French and using all of them on coins would be too demanding for a design.
