For some reason, I just can not pass up buying a decent grade Franklin when i see one. I don't know what it is about them, but my eye is just instantly drawn to them. And most can be had pretty cheap so it is easy to pick them up.

Does anyone else do this. I don't need them for my collection, I just really like Franklin's! Once my dealer figured it out, he always has a few Franklin's he keeps in the back and pulls them out when i get there.

2 pints of beer = 1 Franklin. I just like holding the silver better i guess!

I used to collect franklins myself about a year ago. I know what you mean. They are nice looking coins, and you don't need a giant budget to complete the set in high grade.

I've had the same problem with cameo & deep cameo Franklins in the past. They are beautiful & affordable.

    Very best regards,

P.S. They can also be a trick to grade properly without good lighting.

I'm not sure if I am drawn to the Franklin design or the silver. I tend to like the splotchy toning patterns these get.

That is a coin that so many just don't like. For example at a flea market today a coin dealer I know was trying to push Franklin Halves and Ikd Dollars. Not a high price, just no one wanted them. He wanted $1.50 for each Franklin Half and in probably EF Grades.

Anything's better than a dead president! I like Franklins as well. My birth year is '62 and I've had a proof set since '74.

    Cheers!

I believe that they are worth $5 each as bullion.

Carl - at that price I would have grabbed every one of them.

    I'm Guilty

I'm guilty of the exact same thing. My many old tired Franklins seem to be getting slowly replaced this year.
Maybe folks are just digging deeper into their stash and letting them go for about spot.

I've acquired three from proof sets in just the last month.

And to think I could of had some brew instead:whistle:.

Now I'm waiting for a delivery 20 cute Frankies and drinking tap water. They sure looked good in the photos. And I can still swap~em for brew later if I don't take to them. :eek:hya:

  17. I don't really see that as a problem!

    $1.50? Wow....go back for me? :) I have only one, and I paid $5 for it (a 1952 issue)
