Welcome to the boards LightningJR. I'll help as best as I can. I believe what you have is a 5 Piastres from Egypt dated 1972. It could be worth anywhere from 50 cents to a couple of dollars, depending on condition. If you're looking for any more help or info you'll have to wait for someone else a bit more knowledgable to come along, as I'm pretty new to this as well. Good luck and glad to have you here.
Welcome to the forum Lightning. As a matter of fact it is dated, just not in the so-called Arabic numbers you are accustomed to, but in real Arabic. It is double dated, with 1972, the western year, at the lower left of your first picture, and 1392, the equivalent Hejira date (based on the date of Mohammed's flight from Mecca to Medina, a key event in Muslim history) is at the lower right. It is a 5 Piastres copper-nickle coin of the Arab Republic of Egypt, KM#A428. The large irregular "zero" is an Arabic "5". Krause does not give the mintage, but it was probably substantial, as it is valued at only 50¢ VF, 75¢ EF, and $2 Unc. It's very hard to grade from a photo, especially such a small, dark one, but yours is probably VF or better.
Welcome, Lightning. Trust me, learning about coins is every bit as much fun as collecting them. I think you can see by the responces to your question, that this is an excellent place to start. Stick around, and we'll all learn together.
WOW guys thanks for all the help and info you've really made my day thanks a lot. I'll be posting more soon
