I think my family went a bit crazy on this one. Yes, I have been good this Christmas, but this was unexpectedly sweet of them. I opened the package early, as I had to sign for it, and spoiled their surprise.
Awesome gift. Forget about the extravagance/price of that coin, my family wouldn't even know what to choose. Very cool that your family is in touch with your passion.
What a beauty!! I bought myself a early present alsothe old lady was least enthused since I broke my wallet for it but couldn't resist at first sight!!!
I'll trade you two lumps of coal, I've only got a wood burning stove and a small fruit cake. Your family is very thoughtful giving you such a wonderful gift.
Agreed, on all counts! And it's a beauty. My Morgan dollar type coin is a flashy but common piece. I've been thinking of upgrading to a DMPL and/or a CC coin, but after browsing a bit yesterday, I think I'll just be content with the one I have for a little while longer. I'm not a big Morgan dollar collector, though there's plenty to like about them.
I'd love to see a video or animated GIF of the coin in the OP. I'll bet it has a lot more flash and contrast that we're not seeing in the photos.
Even videos can be a challenge to show the full features of these UDM slabs. Here is an attempt I made back in 2019 (no longer have that coin): https://www.instagram.com/p/B0L-ocgAgp_/ And an obverse UDM in a newer yellow Anacs holder (don't own this one either...I did get another but don't have a video of it): https://www.instagram.com/p/BpYLDgAAVWQ/
Great way to show those mirrors. Those two particular coins may only be 63s numerically, but the DMPL (UDM) contrast and flash gives ‘em eye appeal that blows even an MS66 away, in my opinion.
That’s a beauty and a grand Christmas present. If you’re my size, I’ll trade you the pair of pajamas I’m doomed to receive.
