1964-D Kennedy Half-Dollar (The reverse looks damn-near flawless, front (head) has a couple scuffs just below the neck, on the thicker part of the neck.) 1942-S Washington Quarter (pretty beat up, but I like it!) 1948-S Eisenhower Dime (kinda dirty, but all the lettering is there.) 1943-D Mercury (I think that is what they call them) Dime (I'd say the same condition as the Eisenhower.) 1941 Nickel (no mint mark, I think my father-in-law gave me this because he thought it was a war-nickel.) 1938-D Buffalo Nickel (This one is in one of those cardboard coin holders, I don't see a mint mark on it, but it could be covered.) 1943-S, D, and Philadelphia war pennies, in a hard cover plastic holder with blue background. And, lastly although I didn't receive this for a Christmas present, I found it in a roll of laundry quarters 2 days before Christmas, a: 1964-D Washington Quarter (In my opinion, and I'm no grader, this thing is in amazing condition. Compared to my 1961 and 1942 quarters, it is amazing. There is no "darkening" of the color of the coin on this one, much like my aforementioned 1964 Halfie, it looks awesome.) Also, although not a U.S. coin, I received from my boss a 2 troy-ounce silver round that was made by the Crabtree Mint in Paradise, Ca. (Just a few minutes away from my home town.) It is really cool, it says on it "Guaranteed to purchase this ingot for no less that $100 after Dec. 25, 1986." I guess the story behind it was some guy from the Crabtree mint was going around selling people this hunk of .999 fine silver for like, $60 or something, and in a couple years time he would come back and buy it for no less than $100 bucks, even if silver tanked. Needles to say he skipped town...I am kind of fuzy on all the details, I'll get the full story from my boss tomorrow and correct this post!
Nice stuff you got there Kanderus, but you might want to take another look at that '48-s Eisenhower as I'm pretty sure it's a Roosevelt....
Unless it is an error. Check this out: http://www.jmscoins.com/store/product.php?productid=16928&cat=264&page=6 TC
Got mine parked in the garage, ready to be pressed into service in the morning..... Oh dear, I do believe we be hijacking Kanderus's thread. Sorry dear fellow.....
I have a thread right here on my "Merry Christmas" coins, or as I call it "Aloha Christmas" coins. http://www.cointalk.com/showthread.php?t=147483&p=1064944#post1064944 1910 Lincoln cent, MS-64 BN? 1931-S Lincoln cent, VG-8? 1908-S Indian cent, VG-8? Don't know the grades for sure but I may summit them to NGC later on.
Unless I am mistaken as to who is on the current dime, it is Eisenhower. I know it isn't a 68 or 78 because the coin is silver for sure. I swear it says 48, might say 58, but it is a silver dime. Also, as far as pics go, I would love to post some, but all I have is my camera on my phone. I don't know how to get those pics to my computer. Any pointers?
My wife asked me what I wanted for Christmas. After years of soap on a rope and socks, I said go down to the local coin shop and pick out something. Anything. Christmas morning. I'm excited. What did she buy me? Socks. I feel like Charley Brown. I did get a printer. I really needed that. Happy New Year!!!
http://www.coin-collecting-guide-for-beginners.com/roosevelt-dime.html I'm not sure 'cause I've never tried it. My current cell phone has a usb cord to hook up to the computer for charging the unit.
It's ok Pilkenton, I know how you feel. I gave my mom a laundry list of possible coin related items show could buy me and I didn't get a single one.
Congrats! Watch out for those steal sets though, because they are usually WAY overpriced and your buying the holder not the coins lol!
Yep, I was ignorant as to who was on the dime, lol! It is indeed Roosevelt. I don't know HOW I got Eisenhower in my head, but I did.
