I'd like to thank the individual who suggested for 2007 starting a type Morgan set (1 for each year). This is just what the doctor ordered. I apologize as I don't recall who suggested it.. My question is... I love the look of this particular coin... I want my entire future set to look like this coin! I love the slight wear, and the black highlights. I think it is far more attractive than bright, shiny and most likely cleaned I see everywhere. So my question is, for this general look and quality, am I looking for pretty much VF-XF? This will help me narrow the big search on Ebay... or can someone suggest a reasonable, reputable, on-line Morgan retailer? Thanks.. I'm sorry.. I didn't realize how small this picture was. Is it enough to go by? Ok.. this is the ebay auction that I was looking at, and no I didn't buy it http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...MEWA:IT&viewitem=&item=280053950265&rd=1&rd=1

The coin in the ebay listing is in fine condition in my opinion (3/4 of the wing feathers show), in that grade you should be able to put together a pretty nice set with not a lot of money. Only the key dates might get a little spendy.:thumb:
Hey, Glaciermi: I agree with vipergts with the grading. Here is the grading criteris from PCGS for F12-15: Coins will have some deeply recessed hair detail present, but the high points will be well worn and blended. Much of the cap will be worn flat. Reverse wing feathers will show most feathers, thogh nearly all will show some blending; however, the upper wing is very flat. Breast and leg feathers will be totally worn smooth and the claws will be blended into the branch and arrow shafts. The neck and head feathes will now show only slightly. All of the leaves of the wreath will be flat and blended. Determine how much you can spend and that will determine the grade you can buy. You won't have any difficulty with finding the coins in F12-15 but finding them with black (carbon) coloration may be difficult. Good luck and have fun. The Morgan is a beautiful coin. Delawarejones
I think you are going to end up with a very nice set of morgans if you choose to collect by date and by "look" or appearance and don't get hung up too much on grade. It will be a beautiful matched set of circulated coins if you adhere closely to the criteria you established.
