Ive been going to a bank in my nieghborhood for about 2 weeks to exchange coins for cash..for more coins. My first time there i asked the teller if they had any rolls of dollars. She said no and was very rude to me when i asked her if she could check for me. Then i noticed the coin machine in the corner. I told her she would have many many rolls soon. So ive been exchanging about $500 everyday at this branch. The manager has to assist and change 5 bags everyday! The kicker is...i dont even have an account with this bank anymore...they had wronged me in the past, and i switched banks. So today, as i was walking up to the coinmachine the manager stopped me and said i cant use it anymore without opening an account! In fact, that i needed a buisness account because ive been exchanging so much. I asked to see this policy in writing. He could not provide any. I asked the customer at the machine if she was a member of the bank. She was not. I explained that what he was doing was in fact... Discrimination!! So i went home. Immediatley went up his chain of command by calling the dm i recieved a call back almost instantly and the matter was resolved. I am allowed to exchange any amount,at any time...for no fee, with no account. Im not a miser, rather very vengeful. This bank charged me insane service fees while overseas in the military..i left my acct open with $50..the bank changed names and hit me with crazy fees upon my return. Now they try to discriminate against me when i walk 10 blocks in this crazy heat with 100lbs of coins on my back! Oh helllls no!!!
That is a great story, I always appreciate it when people who are rude for no reason are called out and "smacked down," not that they learned anything from it. When my bank started to brush off my requests for coins they became my dump bank.
good job! it still would have been funnier to open a business account. the look on his face would have been priceless. so sure, telling you to open a business account would rid you of his bank, and him of doing extra work. i could see him with a little smug on his face, till you said, "sure, my first deposit is these coins.". you definitely handled it the right way. he probably felt even more like an idiot when his boss called and told him he had to except your coins. but you didn't get to see his reaction...
Tomorrows gonna be a big day! I have 999 half dollars here I need to exchange. Soon I fear they will change the rules about noncustomers using the machine. The policys they have now or too vague and they lead to discrimination. Its not in writing anywhere that I can find Until then...Its my official DUMP BANK ...haha
