I have always collected coins because I thought they were interesting do to their age or beauty, this is the first coin I kept do to what I considered strangeness.

Sherri, that looks like a large date to me.

Yeah, it's a large date. I see how the "L" in Liberty and the "2" look like they are sinking. Maybe from an eroded die?

It definitely looks like Die Fatigue! Also, it appears that the Die may have been somewhat pitted from rust and may have been somewhat covered by grease as well. I have seen quite a few coins in the 80's that have this appearance and one would think that the Dies were sandblasted. I have one (I think 1984-D but it may be a 1982-P) that looks like a Cameo on Lincoln while the fields vary from the shiny luster in some areas which one would expect to almost a satiny look in other areas with some even rough looking areas.

I have one similar to that, and thank to your post I discovered the sequence of ears going from west to east. And also from the little Lincoln there's only his shadow.

I never sold a single coin in my life. I'm not good in prices. There's a picture of mine.

Carlos, yours is a small date. I think face value is what they are worth unless you happen to have any with doubled die obverse or reverse.

The straight relation between this two coins is that, only the shadow of the little Lincoln is there, check also for this die crack on the reverse.

    Hi,

That's not a die crack. It's the result of a scratch on the die, or an anomaly with the plating.
    Thanks,
    Bill
